I have two suggestions.
You can take it to the pharmacist and ask him to help you identify it.
There is a book of all prescription medications called the Physician's Desk Reference. It contains photographs of all the medicine that is manufactured in this country. Your library will have one in the Reference Section. You can search by color.

does it look like this? http://www.drugs.com/images/pills/mmx/t107988f/Salsalate.jpg
I simply went to google.com, clicked on images, then typed in pill 390.
For the future, You can always take pills to your local pharmacist and ask. Or local law enforcement and see if it is a recognizable illegal drug, or check with staff at GNC (etc) to see if it's a vitamin they recognize. Or send it off to be tested at a lab. Do a google search to find a lab or ask pharmacist/law enforcement for a lab to send it off to.

Here's a link to a pill data base. Enter in as much info that you have and it should have a listing.

Take it to the pharmacy, they can usually identify things like this.
Though I would say bin it, if you can't remember what it is it can't be that important any more and is probably out of date.
Just don't take it! Out of date pills can sometimes have funny effects on people, and I'm not talking the good funny.
