take what's prescribed.... but a brilliant and really really effective thing to take is concentrated Pomegranate juice which you can get from health food shops. it's like a supplement - you take a small amount every day and the bottle lasts about a month. it hugely speeds up the reduction in cholesterol and when your doctor re-assesses your blood cholesterol level he will re-adjust your medication and may even take you off of it altogether. a friend of mine recommended it to a lady with a cholesterol of 7.4 and a month later the same lady's cholesterol was 6.2. thats a huge jump - good luck!!! also ask your doctor about niaspam which is a prescription form of Niacin (a b vitamin) which is supposed to be very powerful in reducing cholesterol also. |

your nurse should ahve gave you a diet chart on what you can/cant eat. if you did get one, then eating the foods on the chart will help a lot. if you never got one, then you'll have to look at labels and avoid sugar and salt(little bit ok but you have to think it might be in every food, which will build up). dont eat too much red meat- try looing at recipies for fish. dont eat fatty foods such as chips, have a baked potato instead or a salad. it'll go down, maybe not as much to begin with but it'll drop |

There are a few things I have done that have helped with part of my cholesterol. Look into getting a book from the library on natural healing foods. I used garlicque ( a pill from the drug store) and apple cider vinegar taken in a glass of juice. I lowered the one part of my level over 100 points in 1 1/2 years. I also cut out all fried foods, chips, looked at labels and kept fat intake at a minimum. But guess what, I was still put on Zocor for the part of my cholesterol that didn't get better. Before I started the plan my results were 311/305 with a very low good cholesterol reading of 11. Now My levels are 307/185 with a just above acceptable 42 for the good cholesterol . |

without a doubt yes your doc should have given you dietry advise to help reduce cholesterol(lose/substantially reduce the meat in your diet) also exercise and reduce/stop alcahol consumption. visit homeopath or naturapath for alternative medications....just type in your choice and look for membership website for your chosen therapist as the governing bodies should have a list of practioners in your area |

Clean your body of all toxins and heavy metals. The cholesterol goes up because your body is trying to deal with all the toxins. Bring down the cholesterol is not a good idea if the toxins are still there. High cholesterol is a symptom of the problem not the cause of the problem. |

You have been prescribed the best anticholesterol there is on the planet; the statin group. We are lucky that we are at present living in a time when Medical Science is having a breakthrough with the deadly cholesterol. Our fathers did not have this luck.. We should NOT think of outdated substitute or alternatives. They just do not work and there is no place for them in modern times. OF COURSE you need to make the immense effort to eat and live healthily eg avoidance of fats, oils, sugars, red meat etc., But this diet is as an adjunct rather than a substitute. Good Luck |
