By avoiding pueberty altogether. And stress. And menopause. Amazing that after it finally clears up, after a few decades, when you get to that pero-menopausal stage...you break out like a teenagers again.
It's hormones.
If you got it bad, go see a dermatologist. They really can do a lot for bad acne.

Hi mate,I had the same problem as you for a few years since I was 18. I'm 22 now and I posted the exact same question as you on yahoo answers a few months back and this one guy asked me do 'I touch my face a lot' and obviously when I thought about it I do because when I'm sat in work my spots annoy me cos I think about them I then keep touching them and just poking them.
The guy said that because I was touching stuff all day like my keyboard and mouse and touching the desk and my pen and say shaking hands with someone (anything really) then touching my face now and again that I was putting dirt and bactiria straight on my face.
So over the past three years I had tired everything so I thought just dont touch your face and It kept on my mind and even though sometimes my face felt itchy and sore (it wasent easy) I just dident touch it and I kept cleaning my hands throuly before washing my face with none soap products from http://www.naturalelements.co.uk/ (oily skin section) and my skins in top condition now it was weird. I do recomend drinking plenty of water though and dont smack the fatty foods all the time and this should help. sorry for the massive explanation but this works somehow.

Proactive is a very effective solution but it may not be strong enough for your situation. There are several over the counter scrubs, foaming washes, etc. that can be effective but may cause dryness and irritation. Best recommendation is to consult your dermatologist if over the counter remedies fail. But to help keep acne at bay until then, avoid eating greasy foods (it's not the grease you eat but the grease that ends up on your face) or being in a greasy environment (such as near a vat of grease or frying pan of grease). Blot excess oils off your face occassionally throughout the day (you can find oil blotters at any drug store) and avoid pressure on your face which can cause many blackheads as well as what are commonly known as "blind" pimples, or pimples that are under the surface of the skin and very painful. Wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening before bed. Use a face lotion that is oil Free.

I have the same problem I am 20 also but had them since 12 and I also tried loads on the market but they seem to make my skin worse, very irrating and red cause I have very senstive skin.
I just started to use proactive and my skin seems to not feel tight when I first used it, I had a nice refreshing feeling to my skin I havnt used it long to know about ance changes yet tho.
But so far my skin hasn't reacted bad to it also I only use a little pea size it also.
Maybe you could try proactive the travel size also and see how you get on with it? loads of people have seen dramatic results with that in 1 week!
Or you could try tea tree, which is more natural remedy you can take the washes or sticks or just buy the Tea Tree Oil and and put a few drops in warm water and wash your face that way. I hope this has helped

Vinegar. White distilled vinegar applied with a cotton swab. Apply directly to the face, and the acne will be gone. Take care.

I would strongly suggest you not use Accutane, Proactiv ect. Reason being, is that your skin becomes addicted to the chemicals in the product. You will have clear skin for awhile, but unless you plan on spending a fortune on continually using it, use as little products on your skin as possible. 50 years ago people had great skin without the benefit of all of these products and your skin just gets confused by using so much on it. Hence, lots of zits!! TRY: Neutrogena facial bars at the drugstore morning and night. Moisturize if need be at night to repair.

I know how you feel. I'm a teenager and I have zits too but theirn not as bad as they were 3 months ago. I found something that works
1. After you shower wash your body, and face with cold water.
2. At night before you go to bead smuther a ton of zit cream on your face until it over dries. You'llwake up in the morning and zits will be gone or smaller.
3. After you eat dinner wash your face with soap and warm water then trow cold water on your face.
4. Swim in the pool or the ocean a lot the salt and clhorine will help.
All of this works for me
Best Of Luck Joe

Home acne remedies: Wash the face thoroughly with a non-oily face wash twice a day. After wiping off the water from the face apply tea-tree oil on the face. This can reduce the acne chances.

I suffered from it too. Did your try proacti? I did and it worked great for me. I am cured. If that is too much money try soap that is scent free like DOVE. I know the scent stuff makes me break out. Also, wash your face 3 times a day.

Go to a dermatologist. IF still nothing works there, ask about Accutane. It is a pill that dries out your skin like crazy but the redness goes away. And after a while, it will all go away. P.S. They told me that your eating habits have nothing to do with acne. So eat all you want.

I've tried it all too. I am 32 and still have zits and blackheads like crazy. I have clear days and then all of a sudden not so clear days. I think a lot of it is genetics, but who knows. Good luck!

the Fragrant Pharmacy by Valerie Ann Worwood
It is available in amazon & other book shops
Has an excellent section about acne & its treatment using essential oils. & not just dab abit of tea tree on!! There is a treatment 'programme' in three main stages...I found this to be theonly thing that worked for me. Also helps to stop scarring and long term damage that many treaments cause.
Good luck!

get rid of any products you have used/do use that has any synthetic chemicals.
Change your diet to avoid any pre-prepared/ready meals/chemical preservatives/synthetic flavors or colors - As far as possible eat only freshly prepared food including plenty of fresh veg and fruit and keep all forms of meat to a minimum - when you do eat meat avoid any processed meats/ any preserved meats/ eat only fresh meats (this means poultry and fish too) which you have cooked - and which you know comes from a good source (prefer organic if possible).
Avoid any fatty food - use only olive oil or if you can afford it use virgin coconut oil (damn expensive but the very best oil you can consume with other health benefits that typical cooking oils cannot provide).
Avoid alcohol for a minimum of 3 months (if you already do not drink alcohol - great) if you MUST re-introduce it slowly in only moderate amounts after 3 months - but if you can keep off it entirely then do.
Cut out dairy products - many folks have found that a basic underlying sensitivity to dairy has been a cause of skin problems (including acne). So it is worth avoiding milk and related products.
Adhere to a good sensible personal hygiene routine and consider using an excellent natural and organic skin product such as: puryfying blemish gel from miessence (details:http://www.onegrp.com/viewProduct.aspx?SessionID=121637164&itemcode=11502 ) Not exactly cheap but inexpensive if seen as an investment in getting your skin to a healthy state.
Ensure you do at least 3 periods of minimum 20 minutes exercise per week - (stressful enough to get your heart beating fast, deep breathing, and a light sweat - if you are overweight - or ill - consult your doc before you embark on any major exercise regime though)
Hope this helps...even if it doesn't get your skin perfect ...you'll be a lot healthier overall!

I have also had them and yes I can't get rid of them! I've tried everything also and nothing seems to work. But my problem is I dont use the products every night and day. I'm kind of lazy :) If you don't use the products that you bought every night and day, that might be causing more of them.
But I do know one thing you can do to get rid of them: Use Toothpaste.
I know it sounds weird but I tried it once and the next morning my pimples and acne were gone.
If you try it, Good Luck :)

I know how you feel, I have had trouble with it since I was 15 too. Have you tried Accutane? Getting on Accutane was sort of a last resort for me. I tried everything else, over the counter medication, prescription medication like Retin-A, Proactive, even getting shots of antibiotics directly in my face! That was SO painful! Nothing helped me but Accutane. It can be really helpful if you have bad acne and cysts. Good luck!
