Drink a LOT of water, have a big meal and I've also heard that you should have a small glass of whatever gave you the hangover - and no more that a small glass.

While consuming alcohol can be cool, it also drains your senses hours later. The hangover resulting from the excessive consumption of alcohol is expressed via nausea, headache and an unpleasant disposition, all detrimental to your well being.

There are a number of tried and tested ways of getting rid of a hangover, and one is consuming Activated Charcoal. A single tablet while drinking absorbs the impurities in the drink and hence reduces the symptoms. However, charcoal also absorbs other important nutrients and hence, the remedy should not be made a regular habit. The goodness of apples is not restricted to a flawless complexion anymore. An apple eaten the next morning, after drinking, is very effective as a hangover cure. Another fruit-based remedy is a banana milk-shake with honey. While the banana settles the stomach, being an electrolyte, the honey replenishes the blood sugar level and the milk rehydrates the system.

B-vitamins work while you sleep and aid the alcohol metabolizing process, dilate the blood vessels and restore the spent energy level. Ideally, if drinking is part and parcel of a regular social commitment, then you should supplement the body with at least 50 mg of B-complex, twice a day. Good old chicken soup also works well for hangover problems. Feverfew is a herb that can be taken instead of Aspirin to deal with the hangover headache. It is mild on the stomach. The magic of Ginger extends as a remedy for a hangover too. You can consume either the 500 mg Ginger capsules or drink the rejuvenating Ginger tea, to sooth the stomach.

In the case of a severe hangover, take 2 tablespoons of honey every twenty minutes on awaking. The Potassium content in honey not only combats the effects of alcohol, but also decreases the craving. Alcoholic drinks merely satisfy your subtle desire for acid, and works pretty much like tea and coffee. You should make appropriate changes in your diet and include honey, which contains fructose. Fructose is a sugar that helps the metabolizing of alcohol quickly. Kuzu extract - isoflavone, diadzin and puerarin, is also an effective remedy for a hangover. Another tried and tested home remedy or hangover cure is the juice of one lemon in a cup of black coffee, unsweetened.

When feeling the terrible symptoms of the hangover, the next morning, add two teaspoons of fresh lime juice and a little sugar to a glass of water and sip the mixture. It helps to stabilize your blood sugar. The Peppermint herb also helps to relax the intestines. Since it is a carminative, it rids the stomach of accumulated gas. You can make a great cup of Peppermint tea by pouring a cup of boiling water over 2 teaspoons of dried Peppermint herb and steeping the concoction for at least fifteen minutes. Raw persimmon works wonders for the headache that heralds a hangover. The Prickly Pear cactus extract reduces inflammation and subsequently the hangover symptoms that arise from it, like nausea.

While eating raw Cabbage reduces the headache, sauerkraut and tomato juice replace the lost nutrients. Silymarin or Milk Thistle prevents toxins from entering the liver cells. It is available in the form of 70 mg capsules. Thyme tea also helps a lot. vitamin C, in any form, stimulates the liver, which in turn breaks down the alcohol. However, you need to condition your body to the intake because excess vitamin C causes diarrhea. Since one of the symptoms associated with excessive alcohol intake is an upset stomach, excessive vitamin C may cause a problem. There are a number of homeopathic treatments and recommendations too, to ease or prevent a hangover.

Try not drinking to excess to begin with.

Drinking is not wrong but drinking to get drunk is. What you are experiencing is a natural cause for your actions.

I guess you will have to live with it.

Drink water, avoid loud things, avoid things that require significant amount of brainpower, don't exert yourself, rest if possible, and just let time take care of it.

Do not take headache medicine like Tylenol, Motrin, or asprin. There is still alcohol flowing throughout you and these will mix with it.

Hangovers are like the strange women that often accompany them... they tend to stick around longer than you want.
