Try taking Magnesium pills. Generally, cramps are because one of three (3) minerals is out of balance: Calcium, Magnesium or Potassium.
Most of us get Calcium in our diet from dairy. However, we don't get enough Magnesium. I take Magnesium daily and Potassium once a week. (That person that says you need to see a doctor to get postassium is WRONG. I bought mine at Sam's Club.)

My mom said that she put a bar of soap under the fitted sheet at the foot of the bed and she no longer has leg cramps. Don't ask me how it works, but I have heard this from more than one person!

More water, better shoes and proper nutrition will all help. If your cramps are happening everynight you may want to drink some gatoraide are something like it. The drinks for infants pedilite I think its called is better than gatoraide and has less salt.

If I get a cramp, I just stand up and keep my feet flat on the floor. Never point your feet because the cramp will not go away. When I stand, it goes away in a matter of seconds. Good Luck

I always recommend taking a Calcium supplement that has the natural balance of Potassium and Magnesium. It helps to have some hydrocloric acid in the supplement or taken with the supplement. Calcium supplements should come from a food source not rocks or shells. Look on the label for the source of the ingredients. If you can find a chelated Calcium it will work better. Chelated supplements are absorbed better. For the immediate problem, stretch the muscle to get the acid out of the muscle. Stretch it slowly, you don't want to break something.

My doctor now has me on Quinine pills but if you have a severe crap in the leg, arm, stomach, etc., go to the fridge and get the mustard. Squirt some in your mouth and swallow. A couple of good squirts is usually all it takes and it works almost immediately. No kidding. There is an herb, that the Indians use, that's in mustard, that is a natural muscle stimulant. It causes the muscles to relax and stop cramping...... It works wonderfully.

massage the area with BenGay or vicks. cramp on the calf can be relieve by gently massaging your calf muscles right down to your archilles tendons and massage your toes espically your big toe and ball of your feet. if you suffer constant leg cramps try drinking soda water daily.
What works for me is to daily massage my knee area in circular motions first to the right and then to the left . This helps with blood circulation . You see this area of the leg has no muscle only tendons, cartilage and bones so if you sit down most of the day blood flow gets restricted thats why sometimes we experience numbness in our legs( feels like thousands of tiny needles pricking our foot bottom.

For Potassium pills you will need to see a Doctor, which is always a good idea.
Eating Bananna's helps too. Google Potassium sometime, it will help you find all the natural sources.
But leg cramps are not Always caused by low Potassium, and too much Potassium can be a problem as well, so my first advice is still best.
Talk to a Doctor.
