Has anyone tried reiki or accupuncture?
|
How did it work for you? They both sound sort of ridiculous, but I'd like to know if they really work.

Reiki IS ridiculous. "Energy" shoots out of their hands, LOL!
Acupuncture works, kinda sorta. They found that it doesn't matter where they stick the needles, that fake spots work just as well as the "meridians", so that indicates a strong suggestion of placebo.

I don't understand how either of them sound ridiculous, seeing how they have not only been scientifically proven, but have helped hundreds of thousands of people. Other than that I would say they both work wonderfully, and I'll explain why. Reiki uses natural energy of the body to heal itself, it takes from the congested part of the body (have you ever had butterflies in your stomach?) and gives to the depleted. It evens your energy out, and gives your body a chance to heal. Acupuncture uses the "pressure points" associated with organs in your body to manipulate the energy flow. It can send extra blood and heat to areas that need healing, simply by stimulating the area connected to the injured area. It all lines up beautifully, our bodies are works of arts that we still have yet to comprehend. I don't know what kind of work you want done, if it's for an injury or you just need something to help relax you, but I say give it a try, it can't hurt you! Unless you have a fear of needles then I would suggest magnets instead. Good luck on your endeavor.

Reiki was a total waste of time for me, it was like massage "light". Regular deep tissue massage works like a charm on my problems.

Yes. It will not work for you because you don't believe it will work for you. It is a lot like faith healing.

Yes..I once got Acupuncture from an old Dr in Traditional Chinese medicine in Shijiachuang,China. I was surpriced how well I could feel the force of the "meridians" as he applicated many thin needels along a meridian from the foot up over the hip on my shoulder and in my face...I could feel the energy going up along the meridian!! It was a strong surprice for me! As he slowly turned the needles around for a short time I could feel the energy rice! It was amazing!! After I felt a little tired and dizzy for about 5 minutes...and then it was Ok again!!
I can recommend to see a well educated licenced Dr. It take about 7 year of intensive study to be a Dr in Acupuncture!! Good luck!! from SaraLisa/O.T. Sweden

Reiki is defined by the National Instituite of Health (US Government)'s department of NCCAM as Bio Energy. You might check it out. The US Gov has a few grants doing research on reiki and Fibromyolgia, Stress and other potential problems. I've seen some amazing results with Reiki. One lady was to go in for surgery to remove a cysts which was 90% diagnoised as cancerous. She had a couple of reiki sessions with me and my friend Judy (RN) before the surgery. The lady called us the day after she entered the hospital and was so excited. She said the Doctor couldn't find the spot he was so concerned about and he couldn't understand where it went. He released her to go back home. She didn't tell him about the Reiki Sessions.
I have had severe Excema breakouts and the Acupuncturist I go to puts a few needles in a meridian (energy path) that affects balancing the flow of the electricity in the body and wa la.. my skin starts clearing up almost immediately. By the next day, I have no itching or sore spots. Its great stuff. Dr. Jeff the acupuncturist I go to is also a Chiropracter and is very much into Chinese Medicine. He also has herbs and remedies for all kinds of dis-ease.
Incidently Chinese medicine has been around since 2500 BC which makes it about 5,000 years old. My friend from India laughs and says its so silly that people are calling this new age medicine when American Medicine is only 200 years old.

I had reiki when I was really poorly. i didn't believe in at all until afterwards. i thought i was being touched but wasn't and i felt alot of heat. After a good sleep I got up and felt brilliant. It really freaked me out as I was so sceptical of it at first. My mum had acupuncture for smoking and it didn't work at all so not a believer of that really.

I've had treatments from both. Yes, they work...not sure how, but if it doesn't involve more medication I'm willing to try. I was lucky in that my health insurance covered both. Try.....you might be surprised.

My wife is a Reiki master who teaches. If you are religious, just think of it as the same thing Jesus did, or what priests do when they are blessing you. They lay hands on you to help heal you. Reiki is basically the transferring of good energy into your body to help heal you.
My Aunt is an accupuncturist and so I have had many treatments myself. When I was much younger I was diagnosed with ADD. My Aunt gave me a treatment to help calm me down, and because of that treatment I never had to take Ritalin. So it does work, but in order for it to work you need to have an open mind. You need to open yourself up and accept that healing energy otherwise it won't work and you'll feel ripped off.

I am a Reiki Master teacher and have worked very closely with a colleague who is a chinese medicine practitioner and does accupuncture. Both treatments are very effective and even more so when combined.
It is not a faith healing and you do not have to believe in it in order for it to work. I am a schiil teacher in my day job and many of my co workers who do not believe in Reiki at all find that whether or not they believe in it, when they get headaches, if they come to my room and have me lay hands on their head, the headache goes away in a matter of minutes.
My neighbor with high blood pressure does not believe in reiki but when her blood pressure is in stroke range she calls me and then she calls the ambulance. In the past 7 years Reiki had had her blood pressure reading normal by the time the perimedics arrived on the scene (5 to 7 minutes)
I have been cured from a life threatening condition using Reiki after 6 years of failure by medical doctors of a variety of different specialties.
I have also experienced personally and witnessed great successes with accupuncture.
There are people out there who make natural health care sound ridiculous but mostly they are people who have not experienced it and do not know enough to really be qualified to speak on the matter.
