It might sound like I am trying to be funny, but this is a serious question! I get severely constipated (I can only go twice a week). I work out regulary, eat a healthful diet, drink plenty of water, and have seen a doctor about this, who replied I am "naturally that way". Does anyone have some foods that help (besides Fiber- I eat so much already) or natural laxitives I can try? Sorry if this question was too gross.

I eat a bowl of raisin bran every night, or a bran cereal. If I am having too much trouble, I also have a glass of prune juice. I have this same problem. |

Ever heard of a "brown cow". A nurses remedy. Try about an ounce of prune juice and mix with about an ounce milk Of Magnesia. If you are truly constipated this should send you to the toilet very quickly. Or you can wait a few hours drink another one. It might take a couple of doses. I got backed up when I had hemorrhoid surgery, needless to say it pushed out the constipation problem I was having. |

Whenever I feel constipated I take Nux Vomica 30(Homeopathic). No Constipation afterwards, But it was prescribed for me by a Homeopathic Physician, go and consult a Homeopath to get fully cured. Homeopathy is the best ! |

I had that same problem. Have you ever clean your digestive system? The doctor told me to use "Fiber System Plus" for 10 days to clean my digestive system and it did good. Then I drink a tea every night before I go to sleep and I it change from twice a week to at least once every other day. If I feel like I am getting constipated I get 4 capsules of PhytoLax every two hours and believe me, I will go to the bathroom. They are all natural, I drink the "Tea4Life" at night before I go to sleep and during the day I use the "PhytoLax," and I love them. Once you click on the web page below you will see in your left side a column with the names of the products, there you could read information about the products. The names again are "Tea4Life" and "PhytoLax". The Fiber System Plus could be use twice a year, but people who are in a diet can use it 4 times a year. I hope all this information could help you. https://wilfredojr.my4life.com/products/ProductDetail.aspx?id1=2&id2=31 |

You could try something to cleanse your colon. Colonics cleansers are supposed to help constipation. You may have alot of buildup in your colon, so doing this may "unplug" you. You can find these types of products at health food stores and GNC. I recommend going to www.drnatura.com. This seems like a really good product. Good luck in whatever you choose. |

There are loads of "natural"/herbal remedies, just go to any homeopath or health store. You could even try acupuncture--I live in Korea where this is a way of life. Incidentally, the combination of hot pepper sauce and soju (kind of Korean alcohol) seems to have my students constantly running to the bathroom! I don't recommend this way though.... Personally, lots of Garlic (like in pasta sauces), spices and curry always do it for me. You should also make sure you have good yoghurt and dried fruit every day. |

If you are deficient in Vitamin B6 this will produce symptoms of constipation. B6 is necessary for the production of Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach. Hydrochloric Acid plays on important part in the first digestive step, which if not completed properly can result in digesetive problems all the way through the digetive tract. Hydrochloric Acid (Hci) does not digest food on its own but creates and environment in which digestion begins. Hci is responsible for converting pepsinogen to pepsin which begins breaking down protein in the stomach. With limited Hci, pepsinogen is not converted to pepsin and protein digestion fails. A second action of Hci is to prevent infections, since most organisms that are ingested destroyed by an adequately acid environment. Symptoms of Hci deficiency include: Meal related bloating and burping; General flatulence; History of adult acne; History of eczema; Drowsiness after meals. Organic apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons full, added to a glass of water and drunk 1/2 hours before meals will mildly stimulate Hydrochloric Acid production. If you are experiencing heartburn, stomach ache, heaviness, nausea, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda ixed with a glss of water will neutralise the excess acidity you are experiencing. Hydrochloric Acid secretions below normal have been linkd to the following: Rosacea; Asthma; Eczema: Hives. You need to also make certain you are drinking at least 8 - 10 glasses of preferably filtered water per day. If you consume coffee/tea/soft drinks/sodas then you need to replace each cup with double the amount of water. Caffeine tricks our bodies into thinking that we have plenty of water to spare, hence the extra urination you experience after drinking them. Linseeds, ground up, and sprinkled on you cereals in the mornings are also a good way to increase the fibre in your diet. 1 tablespoon per day should keep you regular. Make sure you eat plenty of fibre rich fresh fruit and vegies on a daily basis. Try cutting back on dairy as approximately 70% of the worlds population has some degree of Lactose Intolerance and simply don't recognise it. An intolerant reaction to lactose can be as mild as a headache or as severe as heavy bloating, migraines, pale complexion, dark circles around your eyes, fatigue and exhaustion. That's about exhausted my resources for now, I truly hope you follow my advice and that it solves your constipation, I really feel for you cos its very tiring and exhausting to be in such a condition, not to mention the brain fog it produces!! PEACE & LIGHT 2 U ****EDIT**** Oops, sorry nearly almost forgot !! You have to also increase your intake of foods rich in vitamin B6 !! i.e.: wheat bran, wheat germ, liver, fish, Soy beans, cantaloupe, Cabbage, blackstrap molasses, brown rice, eggs, oats, peanuts, walnuts, green leafy vegies, peas, beans and lentils ................:0) |

Dried apricots, dried plums (prunes), coffee, Apricot nectar, or prune juice. I add some Benefiber powder to my water bottle every morning. It has NO flavor and NO grit to it... can't even tell it's in there, but it is. Low carbs and high fiber - how sweet is that? I found a homeopathic website which will send you a download of info regarding treatments for constipation. (See also source # 3) In part it states: •Do not ignore the urge to have a bowel movement. •Avoid frequent use of laxatives. You may become dependent on them and your intestines may become weakened. •Drink a cup of Prune juice or Apricot juice daily. •Lemon, honey, guava and grapes help facilitate easy digestion and defecation. •Paraffin oil and castor Oil help facilitate passing of stool by lubrication. Check out the site and click on constipation for the full download (no pun intended). Another site recommends these dietary resolutions: Alumina warm milk Nux vomica Silica Hope that helps .... |
