kay.ce	It is best to treat with using natural treatment as they do not have side effects. sucking on ice or popcicles or anything else that is cold will help numb your throat. If your throat is very sore avoid eating anything that is hard to swallow or is scratchy or hard in texture. Chamomile with mint tea this one you can just get the tea bags and it is cheaper and easier to find than the others you can also use loose Chamomile dried Chamomile flowers and fresh mint. for add benifits you can sweeten with honey. to make tea pour 1 1/2 cup to 2 cups of boiling water over one tea bag each of Chamomile and Peppermint tea let it steep until the water has cooled to room temp take out the tea bags use as a gargle several times a day what you are not going to use within a couple of hours keep in the fridge. Calendula tea has strong antiseptic properties. it has an antibiotic action that help to promote the painless healing or minor wounds and it reducies inflammation and pus formation. useful for alleviation skin ulcers / burns and bruises and for reducing scarring also used as a agrgle to relieve sore throats. to make pour one cup of boiling water over 1 to 2 tsp of dried Calendula petals steep for ten min then strain. gargle with it several times a day. what you are not going to use with in a couple of hours keep in the fridge so it will not go bad. Rose hip tea Rose Hips have antibotic and anti-inflammatory properties they are also rich in vita c which strengthens the immune system to make the tea pour one cup of boiling water over 1 tbsp of dried crushed Rose Hips steep this for ten min than strain. gargle several times a day keep what you do not use with a couple of hours in the fridge. justforfun_1811	It is not a good idea to take antibiotics without knowing what type of bacteria you are fighting. It is besst to see a doctor and have a culture taken or at the very least have him look at your throat to determine if you have strep throat or not. Your throat could be sore for a lot of reasons many of which you don't need antibiotics to cure. I would suggest that you goggle with warm, salty water several times a day until you get to see the doctor. Never, I repeat, never take only one antibiotic. One is never enough to kill the bacteria completely and if you don't kill it the first time it may come back as highly resistant to the antibiotic you are taking. dj.hatchytt	ummm... no... not the best idea... first off, one dose won't do it if you've got a bacterial infection... in fact it might make it worse... second off, you don't know if you have a bacterial infection... it might be viral... and the antibiotic will have no effect whatsoever... other than making you sick in other ways... (i.e. diarrhea and such that most people get just from taking antibiotics...) rtucker	I wouldn't take it for a simple sore throat. Cephalexin is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics. Cephalexin fights bacteria in the body. Cephalexin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections, and urinary Tract infections. Edward S	Cephalexin is an antibiotic. Do not take it unless it was prescribed for you for this problem. First, you do not know if youir sore throat is due to an infection by a microbe; second, this antibiotic only works against certain kinds of bugs. Third, if you only take part of the perscibed drug regimen (you are supposed to take ALL the pills until they are gone) then you may ail to kill them all, and the next strain will be much more resistant to the antibiotics. old_woman_84	Basically--if it is a viral--virus--sore throat--it might not help--only if it was strept. Antibiotics do not touch viruses.--only bacteria. Also--one or two pills should not be taken to help something--you need a full prescription to kill all of the bacteria--because if you do not kill all of the bacteria--they will mutate into another bacteria--and there might not be antibiotics to kill that bacteria.
