Try swollowing a TABLEspoon of mustard. It is super super nasty but it works. I get the hiccups a lot and I just force my brain to think about something else and they go away. It takes practice though. The mustard is the easiest.

Usually eating or drinking too fast or eating too much will cause hiccups. If you drink some water or something upside down they will go away instantly. I know it sounds insane but it works. Just lean over until your head is upside down and pour some water in the roof of your mouth and swallow. It works!

Hiccups are usually caused by the nerves that stretch from your neck to your chest being irritated, but also can be caused from swallowing too much air (drinking from a big straw, eating fast, etc). The hiccuping is caused by your Diaphragm muscle contracting and the airflow intake makes the hiccup sound.
The world record for having the hiccups continuously was 68 years- talk about annoying.

It Starts from a dome-shaped muscle at the bottom of your chest, were all hiccups start.
The Diaphragm almost always works perfectly. When you inhale, it pulls down to help pull air into the lungs. When you exhale, it pushes up to help push air out of the lungs. But sometimes the Diaphragm becomes irritated. When this happens, it pulls down in a jerky way, which makes you suck air into your throat suddenly. When the air rushing in hits your voice box, you're left with a big hiccup
Ways to get rid of them is to
drink water up side down
Hold your breath count to 10 and swallow 3 times
There are many many more
but those seem to work for me

Drink a bit of water whilst holding your noise and then swallow once you're about to hiccup. You feel the water hit the hiccup and push it back down. It can sometimes hurt but once it pushes it back down it shouldn't come back. Least that is what works for me.

Hiccups are a spasm of your Diaphragm, the muscle that controls breathing between your abdomen and chest cavity.

I really don't know why we get them but the only remedy that has ever worked for me is to take a spoonful of sugar and let it slowly melt in my mouth. Sugar gone...hiccups gone too!

Either peanut butter or try lighting a match and then putting it out in a cup of water and drink the water. Match water always cured my hiccups

"Hiccups" are natural spasms of the muscles around the Diaphragm designed by your body in order to intake large quantities of air, almost like yawning. Hiccups occur mainly when you eat too fast, because you are not breathing enough between bites and swallowing. So the body employs hiccups in order to slow you and get the oxygen it beleives it is deprived of. Two methods of hiccup cure are:
Hold your breath ten seconds, the exhale and breath in. Hold for another 10, then exhale and inhale. Then hold your breath for 20 seconds, then exhale. If problem persists, repeat process.
Take a glass or bottle of plain water. Simply chug down the water, not too fast, and see if the hiccups go away. Try again if problem persists. Out of these two, holding your breath works best for me.

It is a spasm of your Diaphragm (separates your abdominal and thoracic cavities) and it is like a cramp - you cannot voluntarily control it. A lot of the things that people do to get rid of hiccups are actually things that just distract their attention and effort and by this sometimes relieve the hiccups because the Diaphragm relaxes (and because they think it will work too).

Hiccups occur when a spasm contracts the Diaphragm, causing an intake of breath that is suddenly stopped by the closure of the vocal cords (glottis). The closure of the vocal cords causes the characteristic "hiccup" sound. A very full stomach can cause bouts of hiccups. While annoying and at times embarrassing, most bouts of hiccups go away on their own and do not require any treatment.
Many home remedies :
*Holding your breath and counting slowly to 10.
*Breathing repeatedly into a paper bag for a limited period of time.
*Quickly drinking a glass of cold water.
*Eating a teaspoon of sugar or honey.
