J'adore	No, no matter what people tell you alternative medicine isn't an effective alternative to actual medicine. Antibiotics are made to kill infections... mild infections can be treated with certain herbs and flowers and leaves... but if you have a serious infection like pneumonia or staph you need a real antibiotic. BrooklynInMyBones	Antibiotics ARE natural. The first antibiotic, penicillin, was discovered growing as a mold. They are not a "poison" and they do Not "help the immune system kill an infection." They are used to fight bacterial infections; they kill the bacteria directly, but they have no affect on viruses. It is very dangerous to "let it run its course" and expect it to "go away" on its own, as Fatima says. That might work if it's a mild infection; if it's a serious strep infection, or pneumonia, it can grow rapidly and kill you if it's not treated immediately. This shows the danger of asking amatuers about life-or-death questions. Some of the people who responded seem to know what they're talking about; others have no knowledge of the subject and should not be giving out "answers." If you drink it, it helps you get over sicknesses faster, and prevents them from happening. I know a lot of people think it's just some hoax, but it really does work. leef85	My sister is a Naturopath and she says the only things she recommends are; Suttons Original Colloidal Silver Olive Leaf Extract Goldenseal. There is no such thing as an natural antibiotic no matter what anyone tells you. Unless you want to eat mouldy bread that is. These are all Antibacterials. for_en_sic2008	if its a skin infection, honey or olive oil may work, dont know about internal infection. Best to take the antibotic or let the infection go by its self.
