If you have a UTI you should take antibiotics. A doctor will probably prescribe you doxocycline. Two great products to take to prevent future infection are albaplex and arginex, made by a company called Standard Process. |

Antibiotics, from your doctor. Then follow up with the herb Uva Ursi, which makes your pee more alkaline. This is the opposite of cranberries, which makes your pee more acid, but if the cranberries don't work for you, this stuff might. It's a good preventative, recommended by my Naturopathic RN. |

I would tend to agree with MissScarlet BUT there will be added benefit to taking the Cranberry Juice and other herbal remedies that will help your urinary Tract to recover from the infection easier. Remember, herbal remedies are MOST effective with proper diagnosis and supervised medical care. with that in mind, herbal care CAN be more Gentle on your body and used in conjunction with a good medical protocol can be VERY effective. If you have a true urinary Tract infection it will take antibiotics to clear it up. People will tell you to drink Cranberry juice and it is good for clearing the kidneys but the only way to tell if it is a UTI and what kind of bacteria is causing it is to have a UA and a culture and sensitivity test and get on the correct antibiotic. |

Make sure the Cranberry juice you take is 100% pure Cranberry. Not cocktail or mixed with other juices. These contain way too much sugar and can make your symptoms worse. You know what I do? I take 2 oz. Cranberry juice (remember the REAL stuff- it's the most pricey, you'll know the one) and top it off with 6 oz. sparkling water. It's not sweet at all, very tart but super refreshing and the bubbles help it go down easier. Trader Joe's has this if you're on the west coast. It's at Super Walmart and HEB here in Texas. I hope you heal soon! |

cranberry juice is good, but even better are Cranberry concentrate capsules, cranberries contain something that make the urinary Tract slippery, so the bacteria can't hang out for very long (it doesn't actually kill the bacteria.) Also you can try acidophilous capsules, this is the "friendly bacteria" that fights the bad. Goldenseal is a good herb with antibiotic properties, and Garlic fights all kinds of infections. |

Magnesium--about 500 mg every day. If I don't take mine regularly, I can tell within a couple of weeks. Magnesium works by breaking down the toxins--and extra Calcium in the urine. Cranberry juice is good too--just make sure it doesn't have fructose or a lot of sweetener in it and drink it with lots of water. |
