here's a remedy my mom used to give me back in Jamaica.
mix these ingredients, but it might sound weird to you, but it works!
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of Eucalyptus oil or olive oil
a tiny piece of Garlic
and a teaspoon of honey
it really works trust me!!

Once you start feeling ill, go out and run your *** off. Make sure you run hard and long. The rise in body temperature will help kill off the virus and for the coughing take a shot of tequila with a teaspoon of honey and lemon. I know this sounds freaky but I do it all the time.

im haitian so i know a bunch, but it envoles a whole bunch of different leaves and stuff
cough drops, when you dont have a cold and you take them you end up getting the cold because your body wasnt supposed to take in what cough drops are made of
(always happens to me cause i eat cough drops like candy and stuff)

Be hydrated for when the cold comes and when you actually have the cold, don't have milk or anything high in fat; however, jelly beans (a few) or anything reasonably high in sugar or not fat can help you get your energy back quickly and recover.

This is what I did when I felt like I coming on with a sore throat and a cold just recently. I made sure to gargle with salt water as much as I can, take naps or just go to sleep earlier. Drink lots and lots of orange juice and warm beverages. Keep warm, but not too warm!

You can over come this if you make yourself sweat. Try jogging so that you sweat. I used to use dried orange peels. I would boil it for a couple of hours. Then, I would get a blanket and hover around the pot...Making sure that I am not allowing any steam to escape. Its kinda like a sauna. I would stay in there for as long as possible. Which might be about 2 minutes...Then you feel better instantly. Dont shower right away. Wait until your body cools down.

Drink large amounts of water. Some of that can be in warm teas, warm soups, etc.Make some soup with lots of Onion and Garlic. If you have lots of mucus, get Mullein tea and use it. It will break up the congestion.Extra vitamin C helps me. I use 1000 mg about 6 or 8 times a day. Some people are afraid of that much, but it is safe. I gargle with Hydrogen Peroxide many times a day and use homeopathic nose Drops so I can breath while sleeping. All this should get rid of the bacteria infected congestion so you can feel better!

5,000mg of Vitamin C and elderberry tablets. The "Emergen-C" brand of Vitamin C is pretty good. Each packet is 1,000mg, so take 5 of them at a time. It sounds like a lot, and it is under normal circumstances, but it's fine for right now. You can also try Echinacea. I personally believe in it but many people are skeptical. Also the typical, wash your hands very frequently and drink LOTS of water. Hope this helps!

Colds are always hard to cure and can be such a bother. One thing I always do is eat lots of ice cream when i have a cold. Somehow, it makes me feel better!

what i do is drink a lot of hot teas ( i mean a lot)-with honey- if your throat is sore too
take vit c
drink orange juices
keep as warm as possible
and have some foot soakings with as hot water as you can bear

Go get yourself a powedered form of Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) with Bioflavonoids mixed with Zinc from either the health food store or chemist. The Zinc will make the effect of the Vitamin C 10 times more effective and the Bioflavonoids will also increase the effectiveness of vitamin C. Have 3,000 - 4,000 mg (3 - 4 teaspoons) daily mixed with water until the cold subsides then maintain your immunity with 1 teaspoon daily.
Drink vitamin C rich rosehips tea as this is the richest known source of vitamin C.
Increase your intake of vitamin C rich foods on a daily basis to prevent any further infection. ie: citrus fruits, berries, leafy and green vegies, tomatoes, red and green peppers.
Ensure you are drinking plenty of pure filtered water ........... avoid caffeine containing beverages such as coffee, tea, soda and soft drinks, as these will only serve to dehydrate you and rob your body of essential B & C vitamins.
Ensure you are drinking or eating something with Beta - carotene in it daily to heal quicker and in future to prevent further colds, as Vitamin A will aid in the proper function of the immune system, shorten the duration of illnesses and generally bolster the health of the mucosal lining of your ear nose and throat. ie: carrot juice, pumpkin, eggs, milk and dairy products.
Take a good quality multi b-Complex supplement on a daily basis both now while you are sick and for future prevention methods. The b-Complex of vitamins is essential for healthy immune, digestive and neural functioning and will help your body deal with the extra stress of being ill.

Get some "Emergen-C" or "Airborne" at your pharmacy (both are over-the-counter). They're packed with vitamins that will stop your cold in its tracks, as long as you're not already sick!
