Zithromax or Cipro. I've taken both and I'm allergic to penicillin. Your doctor should have the answer as it is according to what's it needed for. Certain antibiotics works best for upper respiratory infections and others for regular body infections. It's all based on what problem is it solving?

Zithromax and Cipro are not penicillin derivatives so the allergy in question makes no difference. I am allergic to penncillin and take Zithromax and Cipro both. They are really strong and can have some nasty side effects, like really bad cramping, diareahea and even yeast infections ( male and female).

Cipro is an antibiotic used to treat infections of the lower respiratory tract, the abdomen, the skin, the bones and joints, and the urinary Tract, including cystitis (bladder inflammation) in women. It is also prescribed for severe sinus or bronchial infections, infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever, inhalational anthrax, infections of the prostate gland, and some sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea. Additionally, some doctors prescribe Cipro for certain serious ear infections, tuberculosis, and some of the infections common in people with AIDS.

Zithromax is in the Erythromycin family, and is not related to penicillin. Cipro is another type of antibiotic, very strong wih lots of side effecs.
