Uses
Thiamine, vitamin B1, is necessary to prevent or treat stomach, heart or nerve problems caused by thiamine deficiency.
Storage
- Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture and sunlight.
- Do not store in the bathroom.
- Do not freeze the liquid forms.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
How To Use
- Take Vitamin B-1 as directed.
- It is usually taken three times a day with meals.
- Follow any special dietary recommendations made by your doctor or nutritionist while taking Vitamin B-1.
Side Effects
- Vitamin B-1 may cause itching, sweating, feeling of warmth, nausea, weakness, or restlessness.
- These effects should subside as your body adjusts to Vitamin B-1.
- Consult your doctor if any of these effects persist or become severe.
- Notify your doctor if you experience: shortness of breath, tightness of the throat.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- If you have had a bad reaction (skin reaction, difficulty swallowing, or difficulty breathing) to thiamine in the past, tell your doctor.
- Except in doses greater than recommended, thiamine is considered safe for use during pregnancy and while breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- Take the missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for the next dose.
- If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
- Do not double-up the dose.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: drugs used for muscle relaxation during surgery.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
