Uses
This combination cough suppressant/antihistamine medication is used to treat a cough due to the common cold, asthma, or bronchitis.


Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.


Overdose
  • If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
  • Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, deep sleep, seizures.

How To Use
  • Take Tussi-12 S by mouth usually twice daily as needed; or as directed by your doctor.
  • Shake the bottle well before each dose.
  • Unless otherwise directed, drink plenty of clear fluids when you use Tussi-12 S.
  • The fluid will help to loosen phlegm/mucus in your breathing passages.

Side Effects
  • Drowsiness, nausea, and dry mouth and throat may occur.
  • If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
  • An allergic reaction to Tussi-12 S is unlikely but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: high blood pressure, heart problems, thyroid problems, glaucoma (narrow angle type), prostate problems, any allergies (especially to tartrazine or aspirin).
  • Tussi-12 S may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.
  • Limit alcoholic beverages.
  • Caution is advised when using Tussi-12 S in the elderly since they may be more sensitive to medication side effects.
  • Tussi-12 S should not be used in newborns.
  • Tussi-12 S should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • Tussi-12 S may pass into breast milk.
  • Breast-feeding while using Tussi-12 S is not recommended.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: MAO inhibitors used within the last 2 weeks (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine).
  • Tell your doctor if you take any drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti- anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam, lorazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine, morphine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine or tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine, topiramate), muscle relaxants, certain other antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine).
  • Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and-cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients.
  • Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of these products.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
