trobicin W/diluent Uses Trobicin W/diluent is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections (e.g., gonorrhea). Storage Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. After mixing in the correct IV fluids (consult your pharmacist for details), Trobicin W/diluent is stable at room temperature for 24 hours. Discard any unused liquid. Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. How To Use Follow all instructions for proper mixing with the correct IV fluids. If you have any questions regarding the use of Trobicin W/diluent, consult your pharmacist. After mixing, the injection will appear as a suspension (cloudy particles in solution). Before using, shake the vial well and check this product visually for any unusual particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Inject Trobicin W/diluent deep into the muscle (deep IM) of the buttocks area of the body as directed by your doctor. The dosage and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist. Side Effects Nausea, rash, headache, itching, or pain/redness at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: fever, chills, trouble sleeping, vomiting, dizziness. An allergic reaction to Trobicin W/diluent is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: throat infections, exposure to syphilis, any allergies. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating neonates. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using Trobicin W/diluent. It is not known whether Trobicin W/diluent passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Missed Dose If you miss a dose, contact your doctor immediately to establish a new dosing schedule. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: blood thinners (e.g., warfarin or heparins). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
