Uses
Fats are used by the body as a source of calories needed to provide the energy and nutrients for various bodily functions. Travamulsion is used in people who are unable to eat properly.


Storage
  • Store unopened containers at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
  • Mixed fat emulsions should be refrigerated and used within 24 hours.
  • Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.


Overdose
  • If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

How To Use
  • Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature before using.
  • This nutritional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by a certified health care professional.
  • It is infused over a predetermined time period stated on the bottle.

Side Effects
  • The most common side effect of intravenous nutrition is infection or irritation of the vein at the administration site (catheter).
  • This should be reported to your doctor.
  • Also report: shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, sweating, sleepiness.
  • Notify your doctor immediately if you experience: itchy hives, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, darkening urine, bruising, stomach pain.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions, such as: kidney disease, digestive disorders, other illness, any allergies.
  • Travamulsion should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known if Travamulsion is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and contact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule.
  • Do not double-up the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
