Uses
Solage is used to treat brown age or liver spots (solar lentigines).
Storage
- Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light, moisture, and open flame.
- Do not store in the bathroom.
- Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
- Solage may be harmful if swallowed.
How To Use
- Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist.
- If you have any questions regarding the information, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- Apply Solage to the skin to be treated using the applicator tip usually twice daily at least 8 hours apart or as directed by your doctor.
- Important not to apply to surrounding skin as temporary lightening of the skin surrounding the treated skin (halo hypopigmentation) may occur.
- Solage is for use on the skin only.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Do not use more than prescribed, apply this more often or use this for longer than prescribed.
- Your condition will not clear faster, but risk of side effects may be increased.
- Do not shower or bathe the treated skin for at least 6 hours after applying Solage.
- Cosmetics may be applied 30 minutes after applying Solage.
Side Effects
- Temporary stinging, burning, irritation, peeling, redness, itching, or dry skin may occur.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
- An allergic reaction to Solage is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Before using Solage, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: vitiligo, eczema, any allergies.
- Solage may make you more sensitive to the sun.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps.
- Wear protective clothing when outdoors.
- Solage must not be used during pregnancy.
- If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately.
- It is not known whether Solage passes into breast milk.
- Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
- If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Solage should not be used with the following medications because there may be increased sensitivity to the sun: thiazides (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide), tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin), phenothiazines (e.g., chlorpromazine), sulfa drugs.
- Before using Solage, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: other skin products.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
