Reason: To lower cholesterol level rather than a statin drug. Date: 18 January 2008
Side Effects
I believe the salmon oil contributes to my nosebleed problem; have been in emergency for treatment and sent to specialist for intranasal cauterization--no fun. With the recent news re cholesterol lowering drugs, I plan to visit my doctor and consider one of the older, safer statin medication. I take 4,000 gm/day/per/dr.

Additional Thoughts
It can be expensive but I use mail order companies to keep costs down. The gels are easy to swallow and I rarely have any "fish" taste after consuming same--have been using them for five years, low fat diet helps. Being on estrogen used to keep levels lower; no longer on Prempro.
