Uses
Nicosyn is used to help treat acne and other skin conditions (e.g., seborrheic dermatitis). This product contains an antibacterial agent and a drying agent which promotes shedding of the top layer of skin (keratolysis).
Storage
- Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
- Do not store in the bathroom.
- Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
- Nicosyn may be harmful if swallowed.
How To Use
- Nicosyn is for use on the skin only.
- Some products should be shaken prior to use.
- Check your product labeling or ask your pharmacist to find out whether or not your product needs to be shaken before each use.
- Clean the affected area and apply a thin layer of medication to the skin 1 to 3 times daily, or use as directed by your doctor.
- Avoid getting any of Nicosyn in the eyes or inside the nose or mouth.
Side Effects
- Redness and irritation of the skin may occur.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
- Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: cracked skin, rash.
- Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: weakness, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin, persistent sore throat, fever, easy bruising/bleeding.
- You may be at increased risk for side effects if Nicosyn is used on raw or broken skin.
- Consult your doctor for details.
- An allergic reaction to Nicosyn is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Nicosyn should not be used if you have certain medical conditions.
- Before using Nicosyn, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: kidney disease, allergies to sulfa drugs.
- Nicosyn should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
- Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- Based on information of related drugs, Nicosyn may pass into breast milk.
- Therefore, breast-feeding while using Nicosyn is not recommended.
- Consult your doctor before breast- feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
- If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Before using Nicosyn, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: other skin products.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
