Lidocaine Hcl Viscous is a topical anesthetic which numbs the mucous membranes (skin) of the mouth and throat. It is used to relieve pain and discomfort of certain mouth and throat problems.

Uses
Lidocaine Hcl Viscous is a topical anesthetic which numbs the mucous membranes (skin) of the mouth and throat. It is used to relieve pain and discomfort of certain mouth and throat problems.


Storage
  • Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture.
  • Avoid freezing.


Overdose
  • If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

How To Use
  • Lidocaine Hcl Viscous is taken by mouth.
  • Shake the bottle well before measuring each dose carefully.
  • If you are taking this for a sore mouth, swish Lidocaine Hcl Viscous in your mouth for a minute then spit it out.
  • Do not swallow the medication.
  • If this is being used for a sore throat, gargle with the medication for a minute, then swallow it.
  • Do not drink water or any liquids right after taking Lidocaine Hcl Viscous and avoid eating any food for at least 1 hour since Lidocaine Hcl Viscous will numb your tongue and affect swallowing.
  • It is important to not eat or chew gum while your mouth is numb to prevent choking or biting your tongue.
  • Do not increase your dose or use this more often than prescribed without your doctor s approval.

Side Effects
  • Minor stinging, burning and tenderness of the mouth and throat may occur when this is first used.
  • If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • Notify your doctor if the following effects occur: irritation, rash, redness.
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, vomiting and seizures have occurred in children when large amounts of Lidocaine Hcl Viscous have been swallowed.
  • Use caution when giving Lidocaine Hcl Viscous to children.
  • In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Lidocaine Hcl Viscous, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history especially: heart problems, any infections or open wounds where Lidocaine Hcl Viscous is to be administered, severe liver disease, any allergies.
  • Before using Lidocaine Hcl Viscous, notify your doctor if you are pregnant.
  • Lidocaine Hcl Viscous passes into breast milk.
  • Though the risk of harm to a nursing infant is very small, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
