Uses
Hm Acid Reducer blocks secretion of acid from the stomach. It is used to prevent and treat heartburn and acid indigestion.
Storage
- Do not store above 86 degrees F (30 degrees C).
- Keep away from moisture.
- Do not store in the bathroom.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
- Symptoms of overdose may include difficulty breathing, fast heartbeat, tremors, vomiting, restlessness, weakness, fatigue, or dizziness.
How To Use
- Hm Acid Reducer may be taken without regard to meals.
- Take 1 tablet to relieve symptoms.
- To prevent symptoms from occurring take 1 tablet one hour before eating a meal.
- Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
- Do not take 2 tablets per day continuously for more than 2 weeks.
- If symptoms continue, contact your doctor.
- For the chewable form: chew the tablet thoroughly and use as directed (see above).
Side Effects
- Side effects of Hm Acid Reducer are rare, however, headache, dizziness, constipation or diarrhea have been reported.
- If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
- In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Hm Acid Reducer, seek immediate medical attention.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Before using Hm Acid Reducer, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heartburn combined with lightheadedness or sweating or dizziness, chest pain or shoulder/jaw pain especially with shortness of breath, pain spreading to arms or neck or shoulders, unexplained weight loss, liver or kidney problems, trouble swallowing, black stools, persistent stomach pain, a history of smoking or alcohol use, other stomach problems (e.g., tumors), any allergies (including drug allergies).
- Before using Hm Acid Reducer, tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
- Hm Acid Reducer is excreted into breast milk.
- Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
- Hm Acid Reducer is not recommended for children under 12 years of age unless prescribed by their doctor.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double-up the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all medications you may use, including prescription or nonprescription drugs, especially of: azole antifungals (e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole).
- Hm Acid Reducer is available in both prescription and over-the-counter formulations.
- Do not take both at the same time.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
