Hawthorn has been used for heart failure, irregular heart beat (arrhythmia), heart pain (angina), high or low blood pressure and for blood circulation. Hawthorn has also been used as a sedative. How To Use
  • Take this product by mouth as directed.
  • Follow all directions on the product package.
  • If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If your condition persists or worsens, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, such as heart failure or high blood pressure, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Your condition may require prescription medication and/or medical supervision.

Side Effects
  • Nausea, stomach upset, dizziness or drowsiness may occur.
  • If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: fatigue, sweating, unusually fast or irregular heart beat, chest pain, trouble sleeping, mental/mood changes, tremor.
  • An allergic reaction to this product is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using this product: heart disease (e.g., heart failure, angina), irregular pulse (arrhythmia), high or low blood pressure.
  • This product may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.
  • Limit alcohol intake because it can intensify the dizziness or drowsiness effects of this product.
  • The liquid preparations of this product may contain sugar and/or alcohol.
  • Caution is advised if you have diabetes, alcohol dependence or liver disease.
  • Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of this product.
  • Hawthorn products are not recommended for use in children.
  • Consult your doctor for more details.
  • Hawthorn must not be used during the first three months (first trimester) of pregnancy.
  • This product is not recommended for use during the last six months (second and third trimesters) of pregnancy.
  • Consult your doctor before using this product.
  • Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this product is not recommended.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of drowsiness-causing drugs such as: medicine for sleep (sedatives), tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine).
  • Also report the use of heart/blood pressure medications such as: beta-blockers (e.g., atenolol, metoprolol), calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, nifedipine, verapamil), ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, lisinopril), angiotensin blockers (e.g., losartan, valsartan), digoxin.
  • Check the labels on all your medicines (e.g., cough-and- cold products) because they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients.
  • Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products.
