Uses
Bisacodyl is a laxative. The enema is used to clear the intestine before rectal or bowel examinations.
Storage
- Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
- Fleet Bisacodyl may be harmful if swallowed.
- If you or someone you know may have taken Fleet Bisacodyl by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

How To Use
- To use the enema, follow the instructions provided in the package.
- Unwrap the enema.
- Lie on your left side with one knee bent up to your chest.
- Insert the enema tip into the rectum pointing toward the navel and gently squeeze the bottle to release the medication.
- Try to retain the medication for as long as possible.
- Be sure to follow any special dietary restrictions given based on the type and timing of the procedure being done.
Side Effects
- Fleet Bisacodyl may cause severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps, or bloating.
- If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
- Notify your doctor if you experience: rectal bleeding, a rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation.
- Prolonged, frequent or excessive use of enemas may lead to dependency.
- Liver damage has been reported with use of multiple bisacodyl enemas.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, bowel disease, allergies.
- Fleet Bisacodyl should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
- Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- Consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double-up the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
