Uses
This combination medication is used in the treatment of stomach disorders such as ulcers or irritable bowel syndrome.
Storage
- Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture.
Overdose
- If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
- Symptoms of overdose may include confusion, slow reflexes, clumsiness, deep sleep, and loss of consciousness.
How To Use
- Take 30 minutes to one hour before meals unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
- May be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.
- Do not take within one hour of an antacid or antidiarrheal medication as effectiveness of Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide will be reduced.
- Use Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide exactly as directed by your doctor.
- Do not increase your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed by your doctor because Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide can be habit-forming.
- Also, if used for an extended period, do not suddenly stop using Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide without your doctor s approval.
- Over time, Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide may not work as well.
- Consult your doctor if Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide stops working well.
Side Effects
- May cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, reduced sweating, blurred vision, headache, nausea or stomach upset.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.
- Notify your doctor if you experience: difficulty in urination, pounding heartbeat, mood changes.
- In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide, seek immediate medical attention.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, allergies (especially drug allergies).
- Limit intake of alcoholic beverages.
- Alcohol adds to the drowsiness caused by Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide.
- Because Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide may make you dizzy and/or drowsy, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness such as driving.
- Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide may reduce sweating which may lead to heat stroke in hot weather.
- Use caution engaging in strenuous activity during hot weather Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide.
- Use with caution.
- Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
- Consult your doctor for details.
- Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide may be excreted into breast-milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant.
- Using Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide while breast-feeding is not recommended.
- Consult your doctor.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: digoxin, ketoconazole, levodopa, antacids, cimetidine, disulfiram, seizure medication, sleeping pills, narcotic pain medication, medication for depression, barbiturates, tranquilizers, sedatives, antihistamines, medication for allergies or colds.
- Do not smoke.
- Smoking can decrease Clidinium W/chlordiazepoxide s effectiveness.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
