Camphor helps to relieve itching while the zinc acetate acts as a protectant and a drying agent. This combination medication is used to treat certain skin conditions such as insect bites, irritation, rash due to poison oak, poison ivy or poison sumac. Storage Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication. Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Photos Caldyphen Clear Lotion with How To Use Caldyphen-Clear is for use on the skin only. To apply, clean and dry the affected area as directed. Apply a small amount to the skin area and rub in gently. Cover with a bandage if told to do so. Wash hands thoroughly after use. The lotion may be applied to gauze or a bandage first. Do not use large amounts or use this more often than prescribed since the chance for side effects may be increased. Avoid contact with the eyes. Use sparingly on children or elderly persons since they may be more sensitive to the effects of Caldyphen-Clear when used in large amounts. Do not ingest Caldyphen-Clear. Side Effects Caldyphen-Clear may cause temporary redness or minor irritation when first applied. If these symptoms continue or become worse inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: swelling/itching/rash where the medication was applied. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions Tell your doctor if you have: other skin conditions, any drug allergies. Caldyphen-Clear should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if Caldyphen-Clear is found in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Missed Dose If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double-up the dose to catch up. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, including: all skin products.
