How To Use
- Shake well before each dose.
- Take Augmentin Es-600 as directed by your doctor, usually every 12 hours.
- Augmentin Es-600 should be taken with food.
- Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level.
- Therefore, take Augmentin Es-600 at evenly spaced intervals.
- Continue to take Augmentin Es-600 until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
- Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.
Side Effects
- Augmentin Es-600 may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.
- If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly.
- Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: sore mouth, sore throat, fever, easy bruising or bleeding, dark urine, stomach pain, yellowing eyes/skin.
- In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Augmentin Es-600, seek immediate medical attention.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, hives, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
- Use of Augmentin Es-600 for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal yeast infection).
- Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, kidney problems, liver disease, allergies to penicillin or other antibiotics.
- Augmentin Es-600 may contain aspartame.
- If you have phenylketonuria or any other condition where you must restrict your intake of aspartame (or phenylalanine), consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the safe use of Augmentin Es-600.
- Before using Augmentin Es-600, tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
- Augmentin Es-600 passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant.
- Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
- If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may take, especially of: probenecid, methotrexate, birth control pills, tetracyclines, live vaccines.
- Augmentin Es-600 may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
- Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor.
- This antibiotic may cause false positive results in diabetic urine testing using Clinitest.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
