How To Use
  • Shake well before each dose.
  • Take Amoxicillin Trihydrate as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours.
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate may be taken with or without food.
  • Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level.
  • Therefore, take Amoxicillin Trihydrate at evenly spaced intervals.
  • Continue to take Amoxicillin Trihydrate until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
  • Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.
  • Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in a few days.

Side Effects
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate may cause stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.
  • If these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly.
  • An allergic reaction to Amoxicillin Trihydrate is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing.
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate may cause temporary staining of the teeth.
  • Proper brushing will usually remove this staining and may prevent it from occurring.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, kidney problems, allergies (especially to penicillin or other antibiotics).
  • Use of Amoxicillin Trihydrate for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., oral or vaginal yeast infection).
  • Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.
  • Before using Amoxicillin Trihydrate, tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may take, especially of: probenecid, disulfiram, tetracyclines.
  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
  • Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor.
  • This antibiotic may cause false positive results in diabetic urine testing using Clinitest.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
