Uses
This medication is used to relieve discomfort, pain, frequent urges to urinate, and cramping/spasms of the urinary tract caused by an infection or a medical procedure. Methenamine and methylene blue are antiseptic drugs that help to clear a urinary tract infection. Salicylate is a pain reliever. Sodium phosphate makes the urine more acidic, which helps the drug methenamine work better. Hyoscyamine is an antispasmodic drug that relaxes muscle cramps/spasms.This product alone is not a cure for a serious urinary tract infection. If you have a bacterial infection, an antibiotic is usually prescribed to treat it. Consult your doctor for more details.This medication is not recommended for use in children younger than 6 years.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) in a tightly closed container away from light and moisture.
Do not store in the bathroom.
Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include: fever, fast/pounding heartbeat, severe dizziness, seizures, slowed/shallow breathing, unusual excitement.

How To Use

Take this medication by mouth, usually 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor.
Take each dose with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters), and drink plenty of fluids while being treated with this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.If you are taking the tablets, handle the tablets with dry hands and swallow each dose quickly with a full glass of water to avoid staining of the skin, mouth, or teeth.The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed.Take this medication regularly at evenly spaced intervals to get the most benefit from it.
To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve in a few days.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision may occur.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute.This medication causes urine and sometimes stools to turn blue-green.
This effect is harmless and will disappear when the medication is stopped.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fast heartbeat, hot/dry/flushed skin, decreased sweating, fever, eye pain, difficult/painful urination, mental/mood changes (e.g., confusion, unusual excitement).A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.
However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any of its ingredients; or to aspirin or other salicylates; or to belladonna alkaloids (e.g., scopolamine); or if you have any other allergies.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, urinary blockage problems, difficulty urinating (e.g., due to an enlarged prostate), stomach/intestinal disorders (e.g., obstruction, ulcers), glaucoma, heart problems (e.g., coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, fast/irregular heartbeat, mitral valve stenosis), high blood pressure, myasthenia gravis, bleeding problems.This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy or cause blurred vision.
Use caution while driving, using machinery, or doing any activity that requires alertness or clear vision.
Limit alcoholic beverages.This medication is not recommended for use in children younger than 6 years.
Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug, especially unusual excitement, hot/dry/flushed skin, decreased sweating.Kidney function declines as you grow older.
This medication is removed by the kidneys.
Therefore, elderly people may be at greater risk for confusion, agitation, drowsiness, and unusual excitement while using this drug.During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.Some of the ingredients (methenamine and hyoscyamine) pass into breast milk.
While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them.
Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.This drug should not be used with the following medications because very serious interactions may occur: live influenza virus vaccine, pramlintide.If you are currently using any of these medications listed above, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting this combination product.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: anticholinergic drugs (e.g., glycopyrrolate, scopolamine), other antispasmodics (e.g., clidinium, dicyclomine), anti-diarrhea drugs that may reduce absorption of this medication (e.g., attapulgite, kaolin), "blood thinners" (e.g., heparin, warfarin), drugs that make the urine less acidic (e.g., acetazolamide, antacids, hydrochlorothiazide, potassium citrate), ketoconazole, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, isocarboxazid, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine), methotrexate, certain potassium supplements (wax-matrix preparations), valproic acid.Check all prescription and nonprescription medicine labels carefully since many contain aspirin or aspirin-related drugs.
Low-dose aspirin should be continued if prescribed by your doctor for specific medical reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually at dosages of 81-325 milligrams per day).
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you also take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine, meclizine), anti-seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine), medicine for sleep or anxiety (e.g., alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.g., chlorpromazine, haloperidol, amitriptyline, risperidone).
