Temovate

Uses
This medication is used to treat certain scalp conditions. This product contains a corticosteroid called clobetasol (for swelling, redness and itch. This drug may also be used for certain skin conditions.
Notes
  • Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) this medication.
  • Do not share this medication with others.

Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 39 and 77 degrees F (4-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

How To Use
  • HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: Apply a small amount and gently rub into the affected area.
  • Generally this medicine is used in the morning and at night.
  • Follow all instructions carefully and do not use this product more often or longer than prescribed; an increase in side effects could occur.
  • The usual recommended treatment period is two weeks.
  • Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor.
  • You should notice improvement within one week.

Side Effects
  • Burning, stinging or a form of acne might occur.
  • If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.
  • Unlikely but report promptly rash or itching.
  • Very unlikely but report promptly an unusual increase in thirst or urination, vision problems, headache, unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting or dizziness.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies or scalp/skin infections.
  • Do not get this medicine in your eye.
  • If you do, flush it immediately with a large amount of water.
  • Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
  • This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment.
  • This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries.
  • This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
  • This medication should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
  • This drug is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
  • Children may be more sensitive to drug side effects with prolonged use, including growth patterns.
  • Consult your doctor.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially other scalp/skin medication or corticosteroid drugs (e.g., prednisone).
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Side Effects
peeling, itchiness, oiliness in skin, acne on my scalp

Additional Thoughts
way too strong, get rid of the dermatitis fast, but it creates more problems that looks like it invites the psoriasis to come back. Temovate made matters on my scalp worse. Better to go with a medium potency whenever possible.
