Sertaconazole Ertaczo Uses Treats tinea pedis ("athlete's foot"). This medicine is an antifungal. Storage Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Ask how you should dispose of the used medicine tube. Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone. How To Use APPEARANCE: Cream. Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to apply and how often. Do not use more medicine or apply it more often than your doctor tells you to. This medicine is for use on the skin only. Do not get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not swallow this medicine. Do not use on skin areas that have cuts or scrapes. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away. Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine. Make sure your skin is completely dry before you put the medicine on it. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin and to the healthy skin around the infection. Rub the medicine in gently. Keep using this medicine for the full treatment time, even if your infection looks or feels better after the first few doses. Your infection may not clear up completely if you stop using the medicine too soon. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage unless your doctor has told you to. Side Effects Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects: New or worse skin itching, burning, blistering, swelling, oozing, redness, or pain. Precautions You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to sertaconazole or similar medicines such as clotrimazole, ketoconazole, miconazole, Lotrimin®, Monistat®, Mycelex®, or Nizoral®. Missed Dose If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, apply it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to apply the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose. Drug Interactions Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Do not use this medicine for a skin problem that has not been checked by your doctor. If your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse, call your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have had bad side effects caused by other medicine you have used for a fungus infection.
