Additional Thoughts
I'm convinced that my psychiatrist is a quack and had no idea what she was doing when she prescribed me this med. The side-effects by far outwieghed the benefits. This drug in my opinion is poison and is by far over prescribed I think the FDA or government should intervene to prevent it from being prescribed accept to people who have severe schitzo.

Reason: anxiety, anti-social, trouble sleeping, needed alternative to opiates Date: 21 August 2008
Side Effects
This is about my cousin. He died of unrelated reasons, but functioned the best he ever did with the Risperdal and a very strong fresh made lemon balm tea before bedtime. He became more patient and friendly. He used to throw his cane at people and be cynical. He used to self medicate when very anxious with heroin. This allowed him to stay away from it, and have pleasure in simple home comforts.

Additional Thoughts
He had some involuntary leg swinging when seated.

Reason: Generalized Anxiety Disorder Date: 18 June 2007
Side Effects
Weight Gain, Lactating Breasts, Possible Tardive Dyskinesia (my cheek twitched twice, and my thumb moved involuntarily for a day)

Additional Thoughts
.5 MG of Risperdal really helped my anxiety. While using it I was able to work hard in therapy and learned how it feels to not be anxious, so I learned what is normal and what is the illness. I recommend this drug, but only with extreme caution and monitoring. I am tapering off Risperdal now, because I got TD symptoms. According to my Doctor, if you catch the TD early, it wont get worse, and may even disappear. Ask your Doctor if you should take Vitamin E while on Risperdal. It is possible that risperdal causes a lot of free radical buildup in your system, vitamin E might prevent and/or help TD symptoms.

Reason: severe depression w/ psychosis Date: 23 June 2007
Side Effects
Extremely heavy menstrual periods that last about 2 weeks, Slight Irritability, Dizziness, Drowsiness during the day, and Restlessness at night. How Fun! :(

Additional Thoughts
As a clinically mentally-ill teenager, I have found this drug to be quite beneficial, despite the unpleasant side effects. It helped with my visual hallucinations and severe paranoia. It's OK, all in all.

Healing Power: 4 out of 5

Sex: F
Age: 25
Time Taken: 1 months

Reason: bipolar II disorder Date: 24 June 2007
Side Effects
Extreme lethargy, confusion, forgetfulness, sleepiness, zombification.

Additional Thoughts
I lasted a month on this before I was taken off it - it turned me into a complete zombie - I couldn't string together coherent sentences, I would forget where I was or what I was doing, I was completely living in la-la land. I was working for a while at a radio station and had to be taken off air, I just made no sense. It took the edge of the mania and the extreme wig-outs I was having but the side-effects were just too great. I'm sure this works for some people but for me it was a bit of a disaster.
