Persa-Gel Uses Benzoyl peroxide is used to treat mild to moderate acne. Notes This medication is available in many forms such as lotion, cream, gel or cleanser and in various strengths (2.5% to 10%). Some can be purchased without a prescription. Discuss the various products with your doctor or pharmacist to determine the best one for you. Storage Store between 59 and 76 degrees F (15 and 24.4 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Photos Clean \x26amp; Clear, Persa-Gel10 How To Use HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: This medication is for topical use on the affected area only. Avoid using this in the eyes, mouth and nose, and on inflamed or damaged skin. The liquid wash or bar soap is used instead of soap once or twice a day. Wet the skin before applying this. Gently work up a lather and rinse thoroughly. Do not scrub the skin. Creams, lotions or gels are usually applied once or twice a day to the affected area. A small amount is applied to the affected area and rubbed in gently. Side Effects Slight stinging, dryness and peeling may occur initially. Expect this. However, if redness, irritation, scaly eruptions or rash occur, notify your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of other skin problems and of any allergies you may have. This medication may bleach hair and colored clothing. Avoid contact. Safe use of benzoyl peroxide in children under 12 years old has not been established. Benzoyl peroxide should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Though there have no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Missed Dose Use the missed dose as soon as you remember and resume your regular dosing schedule. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all medicines you may use, both prescription and nonprescription, especially of other skin medicines.
