Uses
This medication is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps and to prevent traveler's diarrhea.
Notes
- If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve after 2 days or becomes worse or if a fever is present, notify your doctor.
Storage
- Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
- The liquid may be stored in the refrigerator to improve the taste, but it is not necessary.
- Do not store in the bathroom.

How To Use
- The liquid form of this medication must be shaken well before pouring each dose.
- Tablets are to be chewed thoroughly or dissolved in the mouth.
- The dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken in a 24 hour period.
Side Effects
- This medication is generally well tolerated.
- Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking this medication.
- Do not be alarmed.
- This will disappear when the medication is stopped.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Tell your doctor if you have any illness or allergies.
- This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
- Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics or any medications for diabetes or gout.
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
