Treats primary varicosed (abnormally swollen) veins.



How To Use
  • APPEARANCE: Injectable. Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it should be given.
  • This medicine is given through a needle placed in one of your veins. A nurse or other trained health professional will give you this medicine.
  • Right after you receive the shot, your vein will become hard and swollen in the area where the shot was given.
  • The vein will remain hard and a little tender to the touch for 24 hours (1 day).
  • The skin around the area where the shot was given may become light-bronze in color.

Side Effects
  • Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects: Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing.

Precautions
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to morrhuate (Scleromate®) or cod liver oil.
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have artery disease, of if you have severe deep vein problems.
  • You should not be given this medicine if your varicose veins are caused by tumors in your abdomen or pelvis.
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have untreated diabetes, or if you have thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid).
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have tuberculosis, or if you have asthma.
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have a blood disorder or severe blood infection (sepsis).
  • You should not be given this medicine if you have lung disease or skin disease, or if you have acute superficial thrombophlebitis (blood clot).


Drug Interactions
  • Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding, or if you have any infections (including infected ulcers). You may feel achy and stiff for about 2 days (48 hours) after you receive this medicine.
