Metopirone Uses This medication is used to test the function of the pituitary gland. Notes As part of the test to check your pituitary function, all your urine will be collected for a 24 hour period a few days before taking this medication and the day after taking this. Storage Store at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. How To Use This medication is best taken with milk or a snack. It is important to take this as directed to assure proper test results. Side Effects This medication may cause nausea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness or drowsiness. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop a skin rash while taking this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing thyroid disorders or any allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Missed Dose For Cushing's disease, do not double dose if missed. Take as soon as remembered but if close to the next dose, resume regular schedule. As a diagnostic, contact your doctor. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take especially cyproheptadine, estrogen or phenytoin which may alter test results.
