Uses
This combination medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., eczema, fungal skin infections such as ringworm/athlete's foot/jock itch). This product contains 2 medications. Clioquinol (also known as iodochlorhydroxyquin) is an antibiotic that works by preventing the growth of fungus/bacteria. Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that works by reducing the swelling, redness, and itching that occurs in the affected skin.This medication should not be used in children younger than 2 years.
Notes

Do not share this medication with others.This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only.
Do not use it later for another skin condition unless told to do so by your doctor.
A different medication may be necessary in that case.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from heat.
Keep all medicines away from children and pets.

How To Use

Use this medication on the skin only.
Clean and thoroughly dry the area to be treated.
Apply a thin layer of the medication to the affected area and gently rub in, usually 3 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor.
Wash your hands after using unless you are using this medication to treat the hands.
Do not wrap, cover, or bandage the area unless directed to do so by your doctor.Do not apply the medication in the eyes, nose, mouth, or inside the vagina.
If you do get the medication in those areas, flush with plenty of water.Do not apply more often or use longer than prescribed.
Doing so may increase the risk of side effects.Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it.
To help you remember, use it at the same times each day.Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days.
Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

If this effect persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: skin irritation/burning, extreme hair growth, skin thinning/discoloration, acne, stretch marks, "hair bumps" (folliculitis).Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a new infection.
Contact your doctor if you notice any new symptoms on the skin.A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.
However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to clioquinol or hydrocortisone; or to other 8-hydroxyquinolines (e.g., iodoquinol); or to other corticosteroids (e.g., triamcinolone); or to iodine; or if you have any other allergies.This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions.
Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: tuberculosis of the skin, viral skin/eye infections (e.g., herpes, chickenpox).Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: immune system problems, poor blood circulation.Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
This may have undesirable effects that may require additional corticosteroid treatment.
Children and those using this drug for an extended time over most of the skin may be at higher risk, especially if they also have serious medical problems such as severe infections, injuries, or surgeries.
This precaution applies for up to 1 year after stopping use of this drug.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur: vision problems, persistent headache, increased thirst/urination, unusual weakness, sudden weight loss, dizziness.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and tell them that you use (or have used) this medication.This medication may stain clothes, skin, nails, or hair.
Use cautiously to avoid contact with clothes, nails, or hair.Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to the effects of too much steroid hormone.
Though it is unlikely to occur with corticosteroids applied to the skin, this medication may affect growth in children if used for long periods.
Monitor your child's height and rate of growth from time to time.During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not double the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them.
Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: drugs that weaken the immune system (e.g., cyclosporine), other corticosteroid products (e.g., prednisone).This medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests (including certain thyroid function tests), possibly causing false test results.
Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know that you use this drug or have used this drug in the past month.
