Uses
This medication is used to prevent cavities. Fluoride works by making the teeth stronger and more resistant to decay caused by acid and bacteria.Do not use this medication in children younger than 6 years unless directed to do so by your doctor/dentist.This drug may also be used to relieve pain from sensitive teeth.
Notes
- Do not share this medication with others.
- Use as a medication, not as a toothpaste.Using this medication does not replace good dental habits.
- Continue to brush and floss your teeth regularly as directed by your dentist, and have regular dental checkups.
Storage
- Store at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light.
- Do not freeze or expose to extreme heat.
- Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
Overdose
- Symptoms of overdose may include: burning in the mouth, sore tongue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, increased saliva, thirst, stomach pain/cramping, muscle weakness, shaking (tremors), seizures.
How To Use
- Use this gel once daily or as directed by your doctor/dentist.After brushing with toothpaste, apply this medication to your teeth and brush thoroughly.
- Allow the gel to remain on your teeth for 1 minute, then spit out.
- Try not to swallow the medication.Carefully watch children during use to prevent repeated swallowing of the gel.Dosage is based on age and the amount of fluoride in your drinking water.For the most benefit, you should not eat, drink, or rinse your mouth for at least 30 minutes after using the gel.Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it.
- To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.
Side Effects
- Temporary staining of the teeth may occur, especially if you breathe through the mouth or have dry mouth, or other conditions causing reduced saliva.
- Brushing may control these stains, which can be removed by your dental professional.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
- Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Tell your dentist/doctor immediately if you notice unusual teeth changes such as pitting, brown spots, uneven/striped enamel.
- These effects may be a result of too much fluoride.A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.
- However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Before using stannous fluoride, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: mouth problems (e.g., sores, mucositis), swallowing problems (dysphagia).Children may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially if they swallow this medication.

- Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
- If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
- Do not double the dose to catch up.
Drug Interactions
- Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them.
- Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially: other medications that contain fluoride, other dental products.
