Overdose
  • If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
  • Symptoms of overdose may include: abdominal cramps, joint and muscle pain, or severe diarrhea/nausea/vomiting.

How To Use
  • Take Gemfibrozil as prescribed.
  • It is usually taken 30 minutes before your morning or evening meals.
  • It may take a few weeks to months before the full effects of Gemfibrozil are noticed.

Side Effects
  • Stomach upset, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, gas, diarrhea, unusual taste, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision may occur.
  • If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occurs: numbness or tingling of hands or feet, joint pain, decreased sexual desire or ability (impotence), depression.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occurs: muscle pain/tenderness/weakness, fever, persistent sore throat, severe stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, yellowing of eyes and skin, dark urine, fast heartbeat.

Drug Interactions
  • Gemfibrozil should not be used with the following medication because very serious effects (very low blood sugar) may occur: repaglinide.
  • If you are currently using Gemfibrozil, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting gemfibrozil.
  • Also, itraconazole should not be used in combination with repaglinide and gemfibrozil because extremely low blood sugar could occur.
