Uses
Pramoxine is a topical anesthetic used on the skin to relieve minor pain, itching and discomfort. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and itching. This combination medication is used in the treatment of certain skin conditions.
Notes
  • If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, notify your doctor.
  • Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) this medication.
  • Do not share this medication with others.

Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat.
  • Check the expiration date on the container and discard any expired medication.

How To Use
  • HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: This medication is for use on the skin only as directed.
  • Do not use large amounts or use this more often than prescribed since the chance for side effects may be increased.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes.
  • Do not insert or use in vagina or anus.
  • Use sparingly on children or elderly persons since they may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication when used in larger amounts.
  • Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor.

Side Effects
  • This medication may cause temporary redness or minor irritation when first applied.
  • If these symptoms continue or become worse inform your doctor.
  • Notify your doctor if you develop swelling, itching or a rash where the medication is applied.
  • Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting or dizziness.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of blood disorders, infections, liver disease and of any allergies you may have.
  • Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream.
  • This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment.
  • This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries.
  • This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.
  • This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • It is not known if this medication is found in breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including any skin products.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
