  • Because this drug may increase urination, avoid taking a dose late in the day.

Side Effects
  • This drug may cause dizziness or blurred vision.
  • Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness.
  • Because this drug changes your fluid balance, you may feel dizzy if you change from a lying to a standing position too rapidly.
  • Avoid this by sitting up a few minutes before rising.
  • Also avoid drinking alcohol which will aggravate these effects.
  • This drug may cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness and drowsiness the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication.
  • This medication increases sensitivity to the sun.
  • Inform your doctor if you develop muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, tingling of the hands and feet, easy bleeding or bruising, breathing difficulties or difficulty urinating.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • If thiazide is present in your medicine, thiazides can make you more prone to sunburn.

  • Thiazide diuretics appear in breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
  • Tell your doctor your complete medical history especially if you have diabetes, liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to sulfa drugs.
  • You may also be allergic to this medication.
  • If you are using this medicine for high blood pressure, avoid drugs that increase your heart rate or make you excited like decongestants because it may counteract the blood pressure effect.
  • Decongestants are commonly found in over the counter cough and cold products.
  • The use of alcohol can increase dizziness or lightheadedness.
  • Ask your doctor about its use.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of lithium, ACE inhibitors (e.g, captopril) and indomethacin.
  • If your medicine contains a thiazide and you take colestipol or cholestyramine, take the diuretic 1 hour before or 4 hours after the cholesterol lowering medicine because of decreased absorption.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Side Effects
nothing that I'm bothered by anymore (been on it for years) except needing to pee a lot in the morning (take medication when I get up in the moring) and for about 2-3 hours after taking the medication I have difficulty getting and maintaining an erection. I sometimes take the Dyazide a few hours later if I run in the morning (so don't have to pee so bad on run) or my wife and I have sex in the moring.

Side Effects
seems like i'm the only one but when i take the dyazide the inside of my nose dries out so bad that the nostrils swell inside. impossible to move out any mucus since it becomes thick or completely dried out. and i cough as if i have a chest infection. this goes away when i d/c the pill. but swollen feet return right away. i'm afraid to try the lasix rx that i have, it's such a more serious water pill.

Side Effects
Heart flutters; unable to do yard work without feeling weak and exhausted; tightness and aching on the left side of my chest.

Additional Thoughts
I started taking Dyazide at the same time I reduced my Toprol XL dose from 75mg to 50mg so the side effects might be related to taking less Toprol. Side effects began after 4 days and on the fifth day I went back to taking 75mg of Toprol but symptoms continued. Quit taking Dyazide after 7 days and the symptoms disappeared.

Side Effects
I take this in AM and haven't noticed excessive urination. The heachache is chronic, though, a nagging 2-3 on a 1-5 scale. I disregarded the sunlight warning one day and my face and neck have a rash that is still irritated and itchy four days later... yow!

Additional Thoughts
Pretty tame Rx, considering I'm taking it along with Metformin, Effexor, Lipitor, Levothyroxine, and an antibiotic as well right now.

Side Effects
My doctor Prescribed Dyazide and Norvasc to control my blood pressure and the swelling in my legs and feet.According to the medical dictionary Norvasc causes swelling in the legs.I haven't question my doctor about this but I intend to.I have also become sexually disfunctional. My Urologist prescribe Cialis, but it has no get effect on me

Additional Thoughts
I think that the drug would work better if the doctor would suggest a proper diet for the patient or a list of meals that you can choose from that will not increase you sodium intake and lower your blood pressure.
