How To Use
- HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: This drug is used vaginally.
- Bring the suppository to room temperature and remove the foil before use.
- The drug is inserted high in the vagina, and you must remain lying down for 10 minutes after insertion.
- More doses are given at 3-5 hour intervals until desired effect occurs.
- This drug is used for a maximum of 2 days.
Side Effects
- Vomiting, fever, diarrhea, headache, chills and dizziness may occur.
- If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor immediately.
- Report immediately any fainting, chest pain/tightness or trouble breathing.
- If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Before using this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies (especially drug allergies), pelvic infections, heart, lung, kidney or liver disease, asthma, high or low blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, seizure disorder, infections in the vaginal area or womb scarring.
- This drug is not indicated for use if the fetus is mature enough to survive apart from the womb.
- This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
- Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
- It is not known whether this drug is excreted into breast milk.
- Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Missed Dose
- If a dose is missed, consult with your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule.
Drug Interactions
- Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially any other drugs that can stimulate the uterus (oxytocics), such as other prostaglandins (e.g., misoprostol).
- Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
