Protects your skin from rash and irritation caused by poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac plants.
Storage
- Keep the bottle closed tightly and store it at room temperature away from heat, direct light, and moisture.
- The medicine contains alcohol and should be kept away from fire.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
How To Use
- APPEARANCE: Lotion.
Use this medicine on your skin only.
You can buy the medicine without a doctor's prescription.
- Read and follow the instructions on the medicine label.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about how to use this medicine.
You must use this medicine at least 15 minutes BEFORE you are exposed to poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac.
Shake the bottle well before each use.
Rub a thin layer of the lotion on your skin to form a smooth wet layer.
When the lotion dries, you will see a clay-like coating on the protected parts of your skin.
You will need to put more lotion on your skin at least every 4 hours or sooner if the medicine rubs off.
You should not use the medicine in or near your eyes.
- If you do get the medicine in your eyes, rinse them well with cool water for at least 20 minutes.
- Tell your doctor if you have eye redness or eye pain that does not go away.
When your skin no longer needs protection, you can wash the medicine off with soap and water.
Until the medicine on your skin has dried, do not get close to a fire.
Side Effects
- Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
Severe rash or swelling right after you use the medicine
Precautions
- You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to bentoquatam.
- You should not use this medicine on children under the age of 6 years, unless ordered by your child's doctor.
Drug Interactions
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
For this medicine to work, you must use it BEFORE you come in contact with the poison oak, ivy, or sumac.
- When the lotion dries, it keeps the oils in the plants from touching your skin and causing a rash.
You should not use the medicine to treat a rash caused by poison ivy, oak, or sumac.
