Uses
This product is used to treat mild to moderate pain such as headache, sore throat or muscle pain. Aspirin also reduces fever and swelling (inflammation). At low doses, aspirin may also provide protection from heart attack or stroke in certain individuals at risk.
Notes
  • Do not share this medication with others.

Storage
  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
  • Discard any aspirin products that develop a vinegar-like odor.
  • This smell indicates the aspirin is no longer effective.

How To Use
  • HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION: Chew this medication as directed.
  • Do not use more than 16 pieces in 24 hours.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not use this product for pain for more than 10 days or for fever for more than 3 days unless directed by your doctor.
  • If pain or fever worsen, if redness or swelling is present or if new symptoms occur, consult your doctor.

Side Effects
  • Stomach upset may occur.
  • If this effect persists or worsens, notify your doctor.
  • Report promptly stomach pain, bleeding gums, or black/bloody stools.
  • Very unlikely but report promptly difficulty hearing, ringing in the ears, dark urine, yellowing eyes or skin, unusual tiredness or easy bruising.
  • In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness or trouble breathing.
  • If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Precautions
  • If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using aspirin: any allergies (especially to aspirin or NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen or naproxen), asthma, bleeding disorders, liver disease, kidney disease, ulcers, stomach problems, growths in the nasal passage (nasal polyps), gout, diabetes, or recent or future surgery or dental work.
  • This medication should not be used in children or teenagers with chickenpox, flu symptoms or undiagnosed illness due to the risk of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious condition.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If sore throat is severe, lasts more than 2 days, or you develop fever, rash, headache, or nausea/vomiting, consult a doctor promptly.
  • Do not use this product if you have had oral surgery or your tonsils removed within the last 7 days.
  • This medicine may cause stomach bleeding.
  • Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding.
  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
  • Elderly patients should use this medication with caution as they may be more sensitive to its side effects.
  • This medication should be used only when clearly needed during the first 6 months of pregnancy.
  • Use of this medication is not recommended during the last 3 months of pregnancy.
  • Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
  • This drug is excreted into breast milk.
  • Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Missed Dose
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
  • If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Drug Interactions
  • Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially NSAIDS (e.g., ibuprofen or naproxen), arthritis medications (e.g., methotrexate), gout medications (e.g., probenecid), diabetes medications, "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin or heparins), or corticosteroid medications (e.g., prednisone).
  • Aspirin is an ingredient in many over-the-counter products.
  • To prevent an overdose of aspirin, read the labels carefully before taking pain relievers or cold products to be sure they do not also contain aspirin.
  • Consult your pharmacist if you are uncertain your over-the-counter products contain aspirin.
  • This product can affect the result of certain lab tests.
  • Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this drug.
  • This medication may interfere with tests for urine sugar (e.g., Clinistix and Clinitest).
  • Diabetics should use TesTape to test for sugar while using this medication.
  • Consult your pharmacist.
  • Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
