Antivert Uses This medication is used to prevent or treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness or middle ear infections. Notes Do not share this medication with others. Storage Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Photos Antivert (meclizine) 12.5 mg Antivert (meclizine) 25 mg Antivert How To Use For motion sickness, take the first dose 30 minutes before traveling. Chewable tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Buclizine tablets can be swallowed whole, chewed or allowed to dissolve in the mouth. Side Effects May cause drowsiness, blurred vision, stomach upset, headache or dry mouth. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Since this medication may cause drowsiness, use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of glaucoma, prostate problems, urinary problems, asthma and of any allergies you may have. Alcohol may intensify the drowsiness effect of this drug. Limit alcohol intake and use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving and operating machinery. Do not give meclizine to a child under 12 years of age without a doctor's permission. Before using this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known if this medication is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Missed Dose If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of drugs that have a drowsiness effect such as medications for cough, colds and allergies; drugs used for sleep, seizure medications, narcotic pain drugs (e.g., codeine), barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital) and tranquilizers. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Additional Thoughts I'm not sure why doctor prescribed a drug that makes you dizzy when you are dizzy to begin with..::.last vertigo attack, in 1996 another doctor prescribed presidone for ten days, also made me sleepy but appeared to stop my vertigo..this doctor told me presidone was a steriod and he wouldn't recommend for vertigo... Can someone please tell me if they know of something that does works?
