Altretamine Hexalen Uses Treats ovarian cancer that has relapsed after chemotherapy. Storage Store this medicine at room temperature in a closed container, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. How To Use APPEARANCE: Capsule. This medicine, like all drugs used to treat cancer, is very strong. Make sure you understand why you are receiving it, and its risks and benefits. This medicine must be taken on a schedule. Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often to take it. It is best to take this medicine after meals and at bedtime. Do not take more of this medicine than your doctor ordered. During your treatment, you may also receive other medicines to help prevent nausea and vomiting. Side Effects Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects: Numbness or tingling in arms, hands, legs, or feet Unexplained fever, chills, or sore throat Unusual bleeding or bruising Unusual tiredness Wheezing or trouble breathing Precautions You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to altretamine. Missed Dose Take your medicine as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next regular dose, take two doses at the same time. Drug Interactions If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. Taking this medicine during pregnancy can cause harm to the unborn baby.
